New for 2026

ECHO OBN enters 2026 with a renewed focus on accessibility, relevance, and impact.

Sessions are designed for busy health providers:

  • Short, focused sessions
  • Practical case-based discussions
  • Consistent scheduling throughout the year

With streamlined access, a modernized platform, and renewed provincial engagement, ECHO OBN continues to strengthen collaboration across Ontario and advance evidence-based obesity and bariatric care.

Connecting community healthcare providers with specialists

What is ECHO OBN?

Obesity care is becoming increasingly complex, with evolving medications, surgical care pathways, and long-term metabolic management. For many clinicians and practitioners in community practice, accessing specialized expertise and practical guidance is challenging.

ECHO Ontario Bariatric Network (OBN) bridges that gap.

It connects community providers across Ontario with multidisciplinary teams from the province’s Bariatric Centres of Excellence through focused, interactive virtual sessions that translate expertise into practical, real-world care.

Through case-based discussion and concise expert teaching, clinicians gain practical strategies they can immediately apply in their own practices.

Supported by Ontario’s provincial bariatric program, ECHO OBN is one of the largest coordinated knowledge-sharing networks for bariatric and obesity care worldwide, strengthening care for patients across the province.

What our participants say about ECHO OBN

Participant voices and real testimonials

I feel more confident about having the conversation with patients and providing it as an option to explore further via consultation with a bariatric surgery center.
Hellen Jarman
Nurse Practitioner
[The session] it helped me be a lot more comfortable with the medications available in managing obesity and what to consider and speak to the patient about when starting them
Maggie Siu
Family Physician
As a dietitian, people often come to me wanting to lose weight or find a "food cure" for their pain. It is a tricky situation to explain there isn't a diet that will take away their pain. I liked hearing 1) this is normal 2) ways to express pain management.
